Fisheries

Managing fisheries is a shared responsibility between different levels of government—on both national and international scales.  A number of organizations are required to work together to protect and conserve resources in support of a stable and sustainable fishing industry. This includes managing and regulating commercial fisheries in accordance with regulations, as well as defined roles and responsibilities. ECM helps all levels of government collaborate to identify priorities, monitor legislation and activities, develop and implement programs, policies and initiatives, create and distribute reports and publications, and work with consultants, research organizations and the general public to identify species at risk.
