Urban Planning

The careful management of urban growth is a collective project that relies on many disciplines. The processes involve coordinating public and private interests, and aligning these with architects, civil engineers, public health specialists, economists, sociologists, lawyers, and geographers, and citizens. The type of documents needed within each of these divisions vary tremendously: there are by-laws, Council documentation, condominium plans, subdivision plans, address changes, permits, complaints, violations, surveys, code deficiencies, correspondence, licensing, e-size drawing plans, and zoning. Negotiation, compromise and decisions occur at many levels.

ECM enables direct engagement and dialogue between stakeholders and public agencies to solicit ideas and community participation in the planning process.  Techniques for survey, analysis, design and implementation can be developed based on an interdisciplinary sharing of information across silos. As critical information is shared and made public for access, planners can make decisions that directly reflect community needs and values, resulting in better and more creative outcomes.
