In July 2008, Open Text announced the acquisition of Spicer Corporation, relating to its file format viewer solutions division. With this acquisition, Open Text became the leading provider of file format and viewing solutions for integrated ECM, BPM, desktop, OEM, and reprographics.
Spicer customers now benefit from access to an expanded portfolio of solutions and services, plus our commitment to continued Spicer product availability with enhanced innovation, development, support, and the value this will bring all of our customers.
Our top priority has been to ensure a seamless transition to Open Text. In support of that, the Spicer business is now known as Open Text Content Viewing Solutions, and we will continue the development, support, and sale of the Spicer products.
Open Text software touches more than 40 million end users in over 46,000 customers, all with increasing expectations of a rich user experience, including high-quality rendering of a myriad of content formats.
The release of Open Text Desktop Viewer v8.3 and the accompanying release of Open Text Content Viewer Toolkit v8.3 demonstrate Open Text’s commitment to Spicer customers and partners to continuously improve and provide innovative solutions to our market.
