Frank Della Rosa
Research Director, SaaS and Cloud
Frank Della Rosa is Research Director for IDC’s Cloud and SaaS practice. Mr. Della Rosa’s core research focus provides in-depth analysis, strategy, and guidance to both technology providers and industrial companies on various aspects of cloud, including multi-cloud and hybrid cloud management strategy, adoption, buying preferences and trends by vertical industry. Mr Della Rosa also provides analysis on SaaS adoption, maturity, buyer preferences, deployment models, vendor market shares, purchasing preferences, market forecasts, and research on the buyer journey of SaaS and cloud technology users. Based on his extensive experience in buyer personas, Mr. Della Rosa’s research also includes an emphasis on the broadening impact of SaaS and cloud services on IT and line-of-business buyer behavior.

Shawn P. McCarthy
Shawn P. McCarthy is Research Director for IDC Government Insights, responsible for collecting and assessing government market data, providing IT investment and positioning strategies for both government and vendors, and market sizing for tech suppliers. His core coverage area includes U.S. federal and state and local IT budgets, agency-level technology priorities and government enterprise architecture standards. He also covers government use of blockchain solutions. He manages the IDC Government Insights: United States Government Infrastructure and Systems Optimization Strategies research advisory service, which includes technology recommendations and key industry forecasting for government IT systems. He also issues IDC’s semi-annual U.S. Government IT Spending Guides (federal, state and local and education).
Prior to joining IDC Government Insights, Mr. McCarthy served as program manager for Government & Education within IDC's Vertical Industry Research Group. Before that he served as a group product manager for four years at Lycos, the Internet search engine, with a focus on government and education. Prior to that he was senior editor at Government Computer News and he wrote the Internaut column for GCN for close to 20 years. As a government employee he developed library data bases at the Smithsonian Institution.
Research Director, Infrastructure Systems, Platforms and Technologies Group
Deepak Mohan is a Research Director within IDC's Enterprise Infrastructure Practice, covering research on cloud infrastructure. In this role, he provides detailed analyses and insights on public cloud Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) storage and compute services, and trends affecting this market. Deepak also contributes to the IaaS market sizing publications, cloud infrastructure research, and cloud related custom consulting projects for clients.
Prior to joining IDC, Deepak has held product management, sales and engineering roles across Rackspace, Amazon Web Services, Vobile and Hewlett Packard. He brings with him over a decade of engineering and business experience in the technology industry. He has also engaged on digital innovation related projects with multiple organizations – including the MIT Centre for Information Systems Research, WGBH, and Crimson Logic (Singapore).
Deepak holds Bachelors and Masters degrees in Engineering from Nanyang Technological University (Singapore) and an MBA from the National University of Singapore. He was also a System Design and Management Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and holds a Master of Science in Engineering and Management from MIT.
AVP, European Software Group – based in United Kingdom
Philip Carnelley is AVP for IDC’s European Software Group, and has over 20 years’ experience of working in the IT industry as an analyst, consultant, and applications developer in a variety of industries around Europe. He leads IDC’s European research on enterprise applications and analytics, with a particular focus on big data and cognitive/AI software and solutions and their implications for digital business transformation. He heads IDC’s multi-disciplinary European Cognitive/AI Research Practice, and he also oversees IDC's European Software Tracker analyst team. He is also tasked with writing and presenting on broader enterprise software trends and the impact of emerging software technologies in the European region. He is a regular keynote speaker and panelist at industry events.

Carla Arend is a senior program director with the European software and infrastructure research team and heads up IDC’s European cloud research. Arend provides industry clients with key insight into market dynamics, vendor activities, and end-user adoption trends in the European cloud market. As part of her research, she covers topics such as how European organizations are adopting cloud, how cloud drivers and inhibitors are evolving, cloud management, cloud security, data management in the cloud, IoT and cloud, AI and cloud, Devops and cloud, as well as GDPR impact on cloud and cloud code of conduct.
Research Manager, IDC European Datacenter Research
Archana is a research manager for IDC’s European Datacenter Research. She covers datacenter technologies including software-defined infrastructures, storage and data management, virtualization, containers, hyperconverged infrastructure, infrastructure performance monitoring, systems management, application development, and cloud services. Archana also leads IDC’s European thought leadership program on open source technologies. She also contributes to European Digital Transformation, DevOps, Blockchain and IoT research practices. Before joining IDC, she was the datacenter editor at Computer Weekly, the digital magazine and website for IT professionals based in London, where she focused on datacenters, server virtualization, storage, open source technologies, software-defined infrastructures, and cloud computing, liaising with enterprise CIOs and technology vendors to develop deeper insight into the enterprise IT industry. She has a master's degree in journalism from Mumbai University. Archana is based in IDC's London office.

Ranjit Rajan oversees the management of all IDC research programs in the Middle East, Turkey and Africa region. In this role, he leads the business growth and delivery of market trackers, spending guides, and subscription services, and supports custom engagements in these technology areas.

Chris Morris is the Vice President for IDC's Asia/Pacific excluding Japan (APeJ) Cloud Services and Technology group and of the APeJ Partner and Alliances program. He is also a member of the IDC Worldwide Cloud Services research team and the worldwide Partner and Alliances research team. As the leader of research into the Cloud Services markets in APJ he manages the regional research into all facets of public and private cloud. This includes the IT-focused technology and services as well as the implications for digital business.

Daphne Chung is a research director with IDC’s Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) Cloud Services and Software research group. Based in Singapore, she focuses on cloud services research with emphasis on cloud software research. Previously, Daphne managed the Asia/Pacific semiannual software tracker program and, together with the team, tracked, analyzed, and delivered insights on key dynamics and opportunities in the software markets as well as related public cloud services markets in the region.

Megha Kumar heads our software and cloud services research at IDC Canada. She originally joined IDC in 2007 covering the Middle East, Africa, and Turkey region, based out of Dubai, U.A.E. In her previous role at IDC, she regularly provided insights on market dynamics, vendor strategies, and end-user trends across the Middle East, Africa, and Turkey for both global and regional ICT firms as well as public sector organizations.
As a research director, Megha is responsible for managing and delivering projects across technology areas such as cloud services, enterprise applications, software and digital transformation for the Canadian market.

Rob graduated from North Carolina State University with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in industrial engineering. He has more than 20 years of information technology experience with 11 years concentrated in business-to-business (B2B) programs. Rob has worked in the telecommunications, electrical utility, and freight railroad industries. He currently oversees B2B program at Red Hat Software. Rob lives with his family in Cary, North Carolina, where he is an active volunteer baseball coach and announces high-school football games.

Jens specializes in digital transformation and digital information management. He supports clients in developing digital content roadmaps, integrating digital content into core business processes and managing digital content. Jens has worked with clients in a variety of industries including, chemical, FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods), public sector, life sciences and utilities. He has delivered a broad range of advisory projects that include digital and ECM strategy, functional analysis, knowledge management and digital roadmaps.
